Down to the canal we go!
The first of our this year’s canal sessions will be on Saturday 20 January 2018.
These sessions are perfect for both those wanting to have a go at canoeing or kayaking, and those with more experience who just want some time on the water. We have enough coaches to be able to break the groups down to suit all abilities, and run a mix of coaching, journeying and games as appropriate.
The session will run from 1.00pm to 3.00pm.
Those who need to borrow club kit can do so by meeting at our club HQ (AKA ‘The Farm’, High Farm Boarding Kennels, Unstone Road, Chesterfield, S41 9QS) at 12.30pm to collect appropriately sized kit and help to load it onto the trailer. You should also expect to go to the farm afterwards to help unload.
Those who have their own kit can meet at Tapton Lock, Lockoford Lane, S41 7JB – note we are on the opposite side of the road to the visitor centre.
For those who haven’t been before and are wondering what to wear, any warm outdoor layers and old footwear that doesn’t mind getting wet. Walking trousers / tracksuit bottoms, with baselayer / tshirt / fleece on top is perfect. Gloves are nice if it’s cold. If you own a wetsuit and are planning to bring it, bear in mind that there are designed to work best when they are wet – and the plan is to stay dry – so warm, dry layers are better.
Obviously it is winter so it could be a bit chilly / wet, but there will be more than enough activity to keep you warm provided you are wrapped up.
£1.00 – club members)
£2.00 – “come and try it”
£3.00 – additional cost for kit hire – as much or as little as you need
If you would like to go please reply to this email to let me know. If you need to borrow kit, please also let me know – you will be able to sort appropriately sized kit at the farm before the session.
So that we have an idea of numbers and to get kayaks & canoes prepared prior to the event would you please contact Andy Pagett via email on firstname.lastname@example.org
